Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Yusuf Buratai on Friday asked his successor at the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Maj.-Gen Ilya Abbah, to ensure the liberation of all territories held by insurgents.

troopsBuratai, who gave the charge while handing over to the new commander in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, urged him to ensure the rescue of all captives.

There is need for the new commander to ensure adequate collaboration among the forces in order to achieve set objectives of the multinational force, he added.

According to him, the mandate of MNJTF includes liberation of every held territory in all the joint nations and rescue of captives, including the Chibok girls.

Buratai told his audience that the task ahead also requires deployment of diplomacy.
The military chief was appointed as COAS on July 13 by the President Muhammadu Buhari from his position as Commander MNJTF, Chad.

Abbah was the Military Secretary (Army), before his recent appointment.
Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republics constituted the MNJTF. Enditem
