Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi, on Wednesday lauded the Osun school feeding initiative, otherwise known as ?OMEAL scheme, saying more of such programme are needed to better the education of children in Nigeria.

Amaehi, who stated this while delivering a convocation lecture entitled: ?Higher Education and Good Governance in Nigeria: The Way Forward? at the second Distinguished Guest Lecture Series of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Auditorium, Osogbo, urged governors in the country to copy the programme because of its enormous benefits.

According to him, other states of the federation must emulate Osun, because the feeding programme can reduce the number of out-of-school children in the country.

He noted that good governance should not be only based on the construction of roads, but every other amenities that would touch the lives of citizens, while education should be one of the cardinal points of every serious governor.

?Every serious governor should take education seriously, though it is common for most governors to want to concentrate on road construction because people will praise them.”
