Police arrest

The Nigerian government Wednesday said it has tightened security in detention facilities to ensure maximum protection of life and property ahead of the festive period.

Sylvester Nwakuche, a senior Controller of the Nigerian Prisons Service disclosed this in Abuja, the nation’s capital during his tour of prisons formation within the Federal Capital Territory.

The government has declared Dec. 25, Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, 2018 as public holidays for the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations.

According to official data, several cases of prison break have been recorded resulting in the escaped of over 2,200 prisoners, between 2009 and 2014. Enditem
