NOA introduces new framework for peace

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) said it had introduced a new framework toward achieving peace across the country, known as ?the NOA Peace Project?.

Director-General of the agency Mike Omeri, stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that the peace project was a national initiative tailored to engage all stakeholders of the nation?s socio-political and cultural spheres in the conversation on national peace.

Omeri said, ?We are a nation faced with a giant that threatens our sovereignty as a united people, but we are a formidable force, we will not surrender.

“We will fight for the inheritance of a land given us by the Almighty and so we must come together; young and old, great and small, rich and poor, and pledge to peace.”

He said that the agency had assembled a group of selected leaders, who could network to achieve the goal of national and regional peace.

This group, according to him, was meeting bimonthly to share experiences, brainstorm on solutions, receive progress reports and review the project strategy.

The NOA boss said they were providing guidance, answering questions relating to peace building, offering resource contributions and testing proposed ideas on elements of the project before implementation.

Omeri said the agency was reaching out to students of tertiary institutions with the message of peace.

He explained that the agency had also enlisted the support of the media, the United Nations, and international development partners in the peace project.

He assured Nigerians that the security challenges facing the country would soon come to an end given the noticeable commitment of stakeholders in the agency?s peace project.
