The agreement was signed in Niamey by Niger’s Planing Minister Amadou Boubacar Cisse and the World Bank’s Operations Director in Niger Paul Mba.
The signing of the agreement is as a result of a joint mission to Niger on Nov. 7, 2013 by the UN secretary general accompanied by the World Bank president, the president of the African Development Bank and the chairperson of the African Union.
It is aimed at responding to maternal and reproductive health needs as well as problems facing adolescents in the region.
Cisse said Niger will get 53.5 million dollars from the fund to implement its key action plans under the project in the area of maternal and infant health as well as in promoting financial independence for women. Enditem
