The Nigerien air force on Monday eliminated more than 40 terrorists, injured about a dozen of them and destroyed four vehicles in the western Tillabery region, the military has said.
The terrorists were located in Goni and Kokolo villages, in an area that has become a new source of insecurity in the far southwest of the country bordering Mali and Burkina Faso, according to an army bulletin released Tuesday evening.
The region has in recent years suffered from attacks by extremist groups.
