Journalists interested in creating news video productions can take this course.

News University, a Poynter Institute e-learning project, is offering the course, “Effective News Videos with Videolicious: A Digital Tools Tutorial,” which will be broadcast at 2 p.m. EDT on Oct. 30.

Participants will learn how to create sophisticated news video productions, from narrated photo essays to newsmaker interviews with b-roll, graphics and music.

The webinar is free with the support of the American Press Institute and the Knight Foundation. The training is a part of a series on digital tools.

Course instructor Alan Haburchak is a video promoter at Videolicious, as well as a member of the faculty at the Columbia University School of Journalism. Prior to Videolicious, Alan worked as a multimedia journalist in China for Caixin Online, and also in New York for time.com.
