Top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un recently watched a test fire of new-type anti-ship rockets, the official KCNA news agency reported Monday.

The state media said “the rockets, which were developed at the ultra-modern level, are being deployed at the naval units of the KPA (Korean People’s Army),” yet without referring to when the firing drill took place.
“The highly intelligent rockets safely flew at the designated altitude, accurately detecting and hitting the “enemy” warship,” the KCNA said.
Kim was debriefed on the drill plan and gave the order to start at an observation post. He expressed satisfaction after the test fire, saying “the rockets accurately hit the target and their capability for discerning target is very high.”
Kim also said that the launch “marked another fresh milestone in bolstering up the Juche-based naval force and the navy’s operational capability has been remarkably increased.”
He instructed to fulfill more tasks to further beef up the navy and called for bringing science and technology in national defense to the world level.
South Korean local media said the DPRK on Sunday launched what were believed to be short-range “KN-01” missiles for 26 minutes from 4:21 p.m. (0721 GMT) from its Wonsan area, a major port on the DPRK’s east coast. Enditem
