The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says Friday?s polls should mark the beginning of a re-transformation of the country?s economy; if Ghanaians made the right decision and vote for him and the party.
Ahead of tomorrow?s polls the NPP flagbearers says he is very sure that Ghanaians will vote for him because he has run an issues-based campaign. ?Our campaign has been very fruitful. Ghanaians are waiting for the NPP to transform the economy and bring them jobs?.
Nana Addo was speaking on Wednesday at the final national rally of the NPP held at the Efua Sutherland Children?s Park in the country?s capital, Accra. He explained that it was the reason for his choice of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he called an astute economist, as his running mate.
k Pete? ? is a slave take offense to the perpetuation of a politically incorrect, if not downright racist, tradition. This year, an Amsterdam councilwoman told a Dutch daily that it was high time to say goodbye to Zwarte Piet. Meanwhile, others maintain that Zwarte Piet is a humorous character in a harmless fairytale. Some attribute his black face to travelling down many a chimney to bring children presents at home.
In 2007, the Groen Brothers, a comedy duo from Amsterdam, produced this satirical infomercial, telling Dutch viewers how they could order their very own Zwarte Piet.
Bawumia is also a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank in the last NPP government headed by John Kufuor.
?Under the Kufuor administration,.Bawumia was among those who worked hard to strengthen the cedi that is why I brought him to come and strengthen the cedi and build a new industrial valued added economy?.
Speaking to the party?s main campaign message of free secondary school education, the flagbearer said he plans to develop a concrete labour force because
?we are going to give every child the opportunity to develop themselves by providing free SHS. We know we can do it, we have done it before, we are going to do it because it must be done, we know it can be done and it will be done.?
Dr Bawumia on his part, told the enthusiastic crowd of NPP supporters that ?the unprecedented corruption and gross mismanagement of the economy as being witnessed under the NDC can never happen under the NPP?. He urged party faithful to vote massively for Nana Addo.
Former president John Agyekum Kufuor attacked the NDC government for implementing polices that he said are not consistent with their social democratic agenda. ?They claimed they are social democrats but are not behaving like that. When we come we will implement clear social policies. Nana says he?ll usher in industrialization and he means it. He has promised free SHS and they are asking of his source of funding, our opponents don?t have dreams so they say he can?t do it.?
He touted Nana Akufo-Addo?s achievements in human rights records and rule of law saying freedom fighting is not new to the NPP as a party. ?We believe in justice and the law is equal before all of us and as you know.Akufo-Addo will not disregard the law.?
Mr Kufuor added; ?I tell you the right leadership that Ghana needs is coming and coming under NPP 7th January when he is sworn into office, within four years you?ll be surprised at the changes that will come to Ghana.?
