Koforidua, Jan. 30, GNA – Members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in the New Juaben Municipality would soon benefit from car and housing scheme.

The Municipal Secretary of GNAT, Mr George Aboagye, in an interaction with media personnel in Koforidua on Monday, said arrangement to sell the first batch of 100 cars to the beneficiaries on hire purchase had been completed.

He said the association had also concluded plans with Living Modula Housing Scheme, a US- based estate development firm, for the construction of houses for teachers, who own landed properties and want to build their own houses on more flexible financial terms.

Mr Aboagye said the GNAT had contacted some people at Okorase near Koforidua for the acquisition of land to be developed into building plots for sale to teachers.

He called on teachers in the municipality to contribute to the New Juaben Teachers Savings Association so that they could benefit from the scheme.

Mr Aboagye suggested that management of the scheme should be separated from its managers and Board of Directors, to promote checks and balances, and its accounts and work should be audited by external auditors.
