A sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a three-storey Academic and Administration block estimated at 3.5 million GH cedis for Ghana Police and Command and Staff College, Winneba, has taken place at Winneba.

Deputy Commissioner for Police (DCOP) (RTD), Mr William Kwesi Aboah, the National Security Adviser did the so-cutting for the commencement of work before the closing ceremony of the maiden senior command course which is made up of 19 Chief Superintendents of Police at the Command and Staff College at Winneba.

The ceremony coincided with the closing ceremony of the maiden Senior Command Course One, made up of 19 Chief Superintendents of Police who undertook a six-week leadership and professionalism course at the college.

Mr Aboah hoped the completion of the project will go a long way to enhance the smooth-running of the college, and to also equip personnel of the service who will be schooled at the college to be able to discharge their duties well.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Mrs. Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Commandant of the College briefing the gathering said the project is expected to be completed within 18 months, and added that the block will have a library, offices and syndicate rooms for senior officers who per chance find themselves to be at the college to update their knowledge and skills in modern policing activities.

According to her, the 12-unit refurbished and renovated syndicate block will then be used by junior officers of the service who also will up-grade themselves at the college to become more professional in the execution of their duties.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, DCOPs of the Police Service, Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey the seventh, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, other service personnel, heads of departments and institutions in the area and the Commandant of the Ghana Army Forces were at the function.
