The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) much-talked about Greater Accra Regional rally is underway at the Mantse Agbona. The rally being described by supporters of the party as “super mammoth rally” will be attended by the President, John Evans Atta Mills and his Vice, John Dramani Mahama including other bigwigs of the party. Conspicuously missing at rally will be the founder of the NDC, former president Jerry John Rawlings and his adorable wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Speaking to thousands of supporters at the rally ground, the National Women’s Organiser of NDC, Madam Anita De-Sooso blamed the largest opposition NPP for trying to destroy the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
She advised her party members to report anybody who forces them to pay any monies for treatment at the hospitals if they are registered members of the NHIS, encouraging them to further report health officials who may ask to pay money before receiving healthcare.
The outspoken Women’s Organiser used the occasion to appeal all Ghanaians who attained the voting age to register when the biometric registration exercise begins next week.
The Parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye called for a united front ahead of the elections, saying that the party needs unity to retain power.
 
He therefore urged the NDC supporters not allow anybody to create enmity among them.
The parliamentary aspirant revealed that the NDC was the only party to have named a Ga as its Chief of Staff and the Deputy Chief of Staff also being a Ga.
The NDC National Organiser, Yaw Boateng Gyan who mounted the podium after Nii Lantey Vanderpuye  said if some people say they cannot see the developments in the country then they are refusing to see it.
They would have to wake up and see how life has transformed for the ordinary Ghanaian.
A member of the NDC communication team, Kojo Twum Boafo questioned the feasibility of the Akufo Addo’s free-SHS promise and appealed to Ghanaians not to take him serious. It is just one of Akufo’s cock and bull stories, he emphasized.
The National Youth Organiser of the NDC, Ludwig Hlodge, reiterated that the NDC was party for the youth and for young people, adding that there are numerous opportunities for persons who support and believe in the ideals of the NDC.
 They should throw their support behind the president to enable them retain power, he charged the youth.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC, Ade Coker charged the swinging crowd to gear up for the 2012 elections and pleaded with them to desist from politics of insults.
He indicated that the leadership of the party eschew politics of insults and called on party faithful to emulate same.
The supper mammoth rally of the ruling National Democratic Congress at the Mantse Agbona in James Town in Accra started with an opening prayer, with the Christian, Muslim and Traditional prayers.
 The Mantse Agbona and its surroundings are awashed with NDC colours and booming sale of party paraphernalia.
