Former Ghanaian Ambassador Alhaji Said Sinare declared the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will “rot in opposition” due to President John Mahama’s leadership, in a sharply worded statement released Thursday.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice chairman credited Mahama with restoring economic stability and governance credibility after “years of reckless mismanagement” under the previous NPP administration.

Sinare specifically highlighted Mahama’s inflation control, currency stabilization efforts, and “Accounting to the People” transparency initiative as evidence of competent leadership. “He is not just managing the economy; he is restoring hope,” stated Sinare, contrasting this with his characterization of the NPP as a “delusional, fractured and rudderless ship” plagued by internal strife. The former diplomat also praised Mahama’s ministerial appointments for prioritizing meritocracy over “family-and-friends favoritism” allegedly practiced by the NPP.

The NDC official cited the NPP’s unreleased 2024 election post-mortem report and visible factionalism as proof of structural decay. “They are engaged in an endless civil war of egos… a malfunctioning political cult gasping for survival,” Sinare asserted. He dismissed NPP’s recent policy defenses as “hallucinations born of political trauma,” claiming Ghanaians recognize the NDC as the country’s political future.

Sinare concluded by urging public support for Mahama’s “rescue mission,” framing the 2028 elections as a continuation of Ghana’s current governance trajectory. The NPP has not yet responded to the allegations.
