The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to launch its more than 100-page manifesto for the next four years in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital, today, Saturday September 17.

President John Dramani Mahama presented highlights of the manifesto at the Banquet Hall in Accra on Tuesday September 13, capturing areas such as the economy, education, sports, health, accountable governance, among others.

The party expressed confidence of a successful manifesto launch after the Ghana Police Service stopped the Aggrieved Customers of DKM Diamond Microfinance Ltd., God is Love Fun Club, And Other Microfinance Companies from going ahead with their planned demonstration on the same day to provide security for the NDC during the launch.

Speaking to Class News, the general secretary of the NDC, Mr Asiedu Nketia, said all was set for the launch.

“The highlights that we released marked the beginning point of the whole exercise and it has attracted the media attention; the discussions are going on. We’ve also made other preparations by way of securing our venue, which is the Sunyani Coronation Park; arrangements are in place to bring our election directors and our branch executives to Sunyani,” he stated.

“The whole manifesto is about our forecast for the next four years. The president decided to add his achievements for the first term so that they can form the basis for convincing Ghanaians that our projections are realisable but basically the difference [between the launch and the highlights] will be that we will allow different presenters for the four key manifesto pillars and the president wouldn’t have to talk much. The president’s presence will be ceremonial – to launch the manifesto and the fanfare and so on.”
