Voting is ongoing peacefully in the Sunyani East and West constituencies in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries to elect a flagbearer for Election 2020.

Though some delegates complained about the slow nature of the electoral process when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the polling centres in both constituencies, the process was smooth sailing as
delegated waited patiently in queues to cast their ballots.

There was police presence at the polling stations.

Officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) supervising the elections say voting started around 0700 hours and there were adequate voting materials.

At the Sunyani Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School in the Sunyani East Constituency, two voting centers had been created to speed up the process.

Mr Yaw Opoku, the Sunyani Municipal Director of the EC, told the GNA that 1,548 delegates from 165 branches were expected to cast their ballots.

As at 0820 hours 72 delegates had cast their ballot in the two centers as others walked in.

Mr Johnson Nketiah, the Sunyani West Constituency Chairman of the NDC, said 1,215 voters from 135 branches in the Constituency were expected to vote.

Delegates comprise branch executives, former government appointees and constituency executives.

As at 0915 hours 60 delegates had voted at the two centers in the Sunyani West Constituency.
