The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched an electronic payment system to facilitate payment of dues by members of the party.

At the launch of the new Digital platform, the General Secretary of the party, Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketiah said the system developed, would help improve and enhance the payment of dues of every party member for accountability and transparency purposes.

He said every member of the party would have an opportunity of contributing their quota towards the development of the party without difficulty through the digital system.

“No member can be in a party without contributing their quota. No party member can now give an excuse as to why he or she failed to contribute towards the development of the party,” He added.

The General Secretary maintained that among other things, the new payment platform will also help minimize internal conflict that sometimes characterise the payment of dues by members .
He noted ” this new initiative would help the party know the good standing of members which, hitherto, was sometimes subject to debate”.

He further indicated that it will go a long way to also improve transparency among the leadership and members of the party in monetary terms, thus, both received and spent by party branches, constituencies, regions and other sectors of the party.

“this electronic payment system would also help the party plan for the next elections particularly in recent times where the cost of seeking political office is becoming too high and so, it is an innovative way of raising money to support the party” he said.

The chairman of the party, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, said the new system is reliable to address any payment challenges and deficiencies facing the party and as well serve as an avenue to empower members of the party to contribute their quota for development purposes.

“ the payment structure will help relieve people who have been the ‘ sole financiers of the party over the years,” he said.

The party announced to embark on a training programme for the executives of the party to understand the payment system.
