Some aggrieved supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Mpraeso Constituency have vandalised the party?s Pick-up with registration number GV 2507-12.

They smashed the vehicle?s windscreen and driving mirror, removed the car tape and deflated the tyres. They also forced the constituency office open and destroyed the office furniture, a computer and other valuable items.

The aggrieved party supporters took the action to oppose the re-nomination of Joseph Omari as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu South.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Emmanuel Atta-Obeng, the Constituency Chairman, said Victor Benefo, the Bepong Ward Chairman of the party, was the driver of the vehicle for the past year without pay.

He said at about 1600 hours on Monday, Mr Benefo parked the vehicle in front of the chairman?s shop near the Mpraeso Post Office for a discussion with him.

Mr Atta-Obeng said not quite long after that, the supporters, numbering about 10, confronted the driver and demanded the keys of the vehicle.

Mr Benefo told them he had handed over the keys to the chairman.

Mr Atta-Obeng said the supporters went ahead to vandalise the vehicle with cutlass, hammers and other offensive weapons.
He said the incident was reported to the Mpraeso Police but no arrest had been made.
