Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is a fine gentleman but he cannot be president of Ghana because of his ?dirty? image, says Gabby Asuming, a member of the communication team of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

For one to be elected leader of this country, he said, that person must not just be knowledgeable and experienced but also have an exceptional character.

Gabby Asumin was speaking on Peace FM?s Kokrokoo Tuesday, commenting on statements made by the opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo during a rally held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) last weekend.

Among other things, Nana Addo stated that no amount of insults, vilification or attacks on his person by spokespersons of the ruling party can stop him from pursuing his desire to be president.

However, the NDC activist rebutted the claim, saying that Nana Addo is solely responsible for his soiled reputation and not the NDC or its members.

He cited several instances in which he said the NPP flagbearer had engaged in shameful conduct ? the declaration of all die be die and recently his alleged fondling of a makeup artist at the studios of the State broadcaster. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks: Gabby quoted a bible proverb, suggesting that Nana Addo?s behavior revealed the real condition of his heart.

He said the NDC did not ask Nana to fondle a woman; neither did they upload a video on the act on Youtube and maintained the party cannot be blamed for Akufo-Addo?s stained reputation.

?Nana Akuffo Addo [is] a fine gentleman but he can?t be a president of this country? and no amount of parazone or akahyaa [a powdery substance used for scrubbing bathrooms] can sanitize Nana?s image, Mr Asumin declared.

But the deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Samuel Awuku, who was also on the show scoffed at Asumin’s assertions with a laughter and referred to him a confused man.

He said the NDC activist, by his admission that Nana is a fine gentleman has nullified his own assertions that the NPP flagbearer has a ?dirty? reputation and thus cannot be president.
