To boost agricultural production and research

The Executive Director of the National Cereals Research Institute, Niger State, Dr. Monday Ukungwu, has called for collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, to boost agricultural production and research.

Ukungwu, who was represented by Theo Isah, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Kebbi, Ibrahim Aliyu.

He said that the institute had played a vital role in cereal production, especially in the area of research and capacity building.

He appealed to the state government to support the institute with project vehicles, tractors and research grants.

Responding, Aliyu said that the cooperation between the state and the institute was necessary, especially considering that agriculture was a priority sector in the state.

He added that the state government would work closely with the institute to develop agricultural production, especially research on commercial production of crops.
