Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has formally presented its regulatory framework to a visiting Zambian technology delegation, positioning the country as a destination for cross-border digital investment and signalling readiness to support new business partnerships between the two nations.
Deputy Director-General Suleman Salifu delivered the presentation during a two-day bilateral engagement at the NCA Tower in Accra, hosted by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) under sector minister Samuel Nartey George. The session brought together regulators, policymakers, and private sector players from both countries for structured discussions on fintech, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and innovation-led enterprise.
Salifu outlined the authority’s mandate and its commitment to maintaining a regulatory environment that promotes fair competition, investment, and sustainable growth within Ghana’s communications sector. He stressed the broader importance of cross-border collaboration as a driver of digital transformation across Africa, citing knowledge exchange and market expansion as key anticipated benefits.
The Zambian delegation, led by Minister for Technology and Science Felix Mutati and comprising 16 fintech companies and innovators, is in Accra to explore concrete business opportunities within Ghana’s digital ecosystem. The visit follows a reciprocal engagement in which Ghana had earlier sent 12 local technology companies to Zambia.
Closing his remarks, Salifu invited Zambian technology businesses to leverage Ghana’s growing digital market and assured them of the NCA’s full support in building partnerships that advance innovation and job creation in both countries.
The bilateral engagement builds on commitments made during President John Dramani Mahama’s state visit to Zambia, where both nations pledged to deepen cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
