Mr James Hemans Hammond, a retired Educationist, affectionately called “Master Hammond”, a native of Half-Assini but resident in Takoradi in the Western Region, has donated assorted medical items worth 2,500 US Dollars to the Half-Assini Government Hospital.

The items include two wheel chairs, three clutches, quantity of children dresses, three stethoscopes, 400 surgery and ordinary gloves, 2,000 sanitary pads, four each of Oxygen, Thermometer & Blood Pressure machine, 70 pieces of toddlers T-shirt, 100 Surgical Aprons, 10 Ace Bandages and Maternity Pads.

Mr James H. Hammond (Jnr) elder son of Mr Hammond Snr, who made this known to the GNA at his residence in Half-Assini on Wednesdays said the gesture formed part of activities to mark the 90th birthday anniversary of his father which fell on September 21 last year.

He said the donation was also aimed at improving quality health care delivery in the area.

He disclosed that the Wesley United Methodist Church of Worcester Massachusetts, USA supported the programme.

He said last Sunday his father donated a Projector and Screen to the Methodist Church at Half-Assini and hinted that the Catholic and Christ Apostolic churches in the area would also soon benefit from similar donations.

Mr Hammond, a retired Educationists, Steward and former Permanent Synod member of Sekondi District Methodist Church was born on September 21 1926.
