The state government believes that a cargo airport will bring business to the state

Governor Umar Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa state?s noble plan of building a befitting Cargo Airport in Karshi development area of Karu Local Government, Nasarawa state, is irreversible, his senior special assistant on media relations, Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga, has said.

Mairiga stated this while addressing newsmen, on Friday, in Abuja.

He said that Governor AI-Makura’s ‘administration would not succumb to cheat blackmail as regard the construction of the airport.

“The governor is committed more than ever before to take Nasarawa state to an enviable height. Without mincing words, the decision by his Excellency has come to stay. So there is no going back? he said.

Mairiga added that the mini airport in Lafia would be completed before the end of the year.

“I also want to throw more lights on speculations making the rounds that over 9.5 billion naira was earmarked By Almakura’s’ administration for the construction of the cargo airport. It is not true. The project is a public-private partnership between the Nasarawa state government and some foreign firms. The state government will only provide land for the project. But that of Lafia, the state capital, which is a mini one, will cost us less than 2 billion naira?? he said.

Mairiga said the cargo airport when completed would take pressure off the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, create job opportunities for the youths and enhance the state revenue generation.

He called on the good people of Nasarawa state to accord Al-makura’s’ government their maximum cooperation in his quest to take democratic dividends to their doorsteps.
