The Nigerian Army Officers? Wives Association (NAOWA) has donated food items and clothing materials to widows of fallen soldiers of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade Owena Barracks, Akure, Ondo state.
The beneficiaries were mostly widows of soldiers that lost their lives on the ongoing battle between the Nigeria Army and the Boko Haram to end the activities of the insurgency in the northeast part of the country.
Addressing journalists after the donation, President of NAOWA, Felly Minimah disclosed that her visit was part of familiarization tour with wife of soldiers in all Army barracks and formations in the country.
She said the Association would continue to strive its best in putting smile on the faces of the less privilege and admonished the beneficiaries not to be weighed down by challenges of life.
Mrs. Minimah, who is also the wife of the Chief of Army Staff, (CoS), Lieutenant-General Kenneth Minimah, used the occasion to inaugurate the newly constructed Vocational Centre, and further assured the wife of the soldiers that the association would be up and doing to support them.
?We believe that those widows who had lost their husbands during the battle against the evil ones should not be neglected and it is the duty of NAOWA to always touch the lives of the less privileges?
Seventy widows in the 32 Artillery Brigade, Army Barrack, Akure, benefitted from the donation, while goods donated includes; Bags of Rice, tubers of Yam, Groundnut Oil, Soup, Ankara among others.
Daily Times Correspondent report that it was the first visit the NOWA President would make to the brigade since its formation upon her husband’s assumption has the Chief of Army Staff.                                                     
Remarking, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brig. General Aliu Momoh commended the association for the initiative particular at using the Association to improve the welfare of the widows and womankind.    
Brig general Momoh appreciated the constant support of the Association and expressed optimism that the present security challenges in the country would soon be surmounted.
The wife of the Chief of Army?s Staff thereafter held an interaction with the officers’ wives before commissioning a vocational center for their use.                                                               
It was later gathered that Mrs. Minimah, who was accompanied by wives of top army brass and NOWA Executives had earlier visited Ibadan Brigade, in Oyo state on the same mission and she is expected to tour other army formation and unit across the country.
The basic objective of the Association is to assist needy and raise the living standard of Army barracks across all formations of the country.
