Nana Okropagyan Bofobene IV, Paramount Chief of the Dwenem-Awasu Traditional Council, was honored in a grand ceremony marking his 35th anniversary on the throne.

The event drew distinguished traditional leaders from across the Bono and Bono East regions, including the Domaahene and President of the Bono House of Chiefs, as well as Paramount Chiefs from Sunyani, Nsuatre, Japekrom, Drobo, Atebubu, and Suma-Ahenkro, among others.

In a heartfelt address, Nana Bofobene IV expressed deep gratitude to the people of Dwenem and the visiting chiefs for their support throughout his reign. Speaking to the media from his palace, he reflected on the challenges he faced over the years—ranging from resistance to his leadership decisions to attempts to undermine his authority. He credited divine guidance and community resilience for helping him overcome these trials.

Highlighting the fruits of unity and peace, Nana pointed to the construction of a multi-storey palace as a symbol of progress under his leadership. He appealed to the Government of Ghana to expedite the completion of the Berekum–Drobo–Dwenem–Sampa road, emphasizing its importance in alleviating local hardships and boosting regional development. He also urged his people to prioritize education as a cornerstone of community advancement.

Addressing the youth, Nana Bofobene IV encouraged them to shun social vices and embrace moral uprightness, noting that such values are essential for building a prosperous and fulfilled life. He further called on all citizens to uphold the laws of the land and contribute positively to national development.

Municipal Chief Executive for Jaman South, Hon. Siata Watala, commended Nana Bofobene IV for his unwavering commitment to peace and unity in the Dwenem-Awasu Traditional Area. She emphasized the value of his experience, both as a Paramount Chief and former Vice President of the Bono/Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, and called for it to be harnessed in Ghana’s broader development efforts.

Hon. Watala also announced that the NDC government, under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, is committed to restoring Ghana’s development trajectory. She revealed plans for the reconstruction of the Berekum–Drobo–Dwenem–Sampa road, a declaration that was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.
