Namibian citizens and holders of Permanent Residence Permit are no longer required to complete arrival and departure forms, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration said on Friday.

Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration public relations officer Sakeus Kadhikwa said this change that has already been published in the government gazette, the actual implementation will commence on January 27, 2020.

“The said categories will only be required to complete arrival or departure forms if the electronic border management system is off at the time of processing such citizens or permanent resident’s entry into or departure from Namibia,” he said.

He added that the change comes as a result of recent amendments to the regulations made under the two Acts of Parliament that regulate entry into and departure from Namibia, namely the Immigration Control Act, 1993 and the Departure from Nam I Regulation Act, 1995.
