An exhibition on on Namibia’s Usakos town was held at East China Normal University, in Shanghai, an official said Monday.

The exhibition, “Usakos – Photographs beyond Ruins: the old location albums, 1920s-1960s,” will be on though the end of May, said Ndapewoshali Ashipala, manager of Museums Association of Namibia.

The exhibition in China was the result of a trilateral collaboration between the University of Basel, Switzerland, the East China Normal University, Shanghai, and the Museums Association of Namibia.

Robert Chalden Sabab from Usakos, who was invited to join the exhibition opening and the workshops that followed suggested that the Chinese hosts might consider developing an exhibition that could introduce Chinese lives to a Namibian audience.

Increasing peoples’ understanding of each other’s history and culture is an important way of breaking down prejudice in the world today, he said.

Usakos, a town in western Namibia, was founded in the early 1900s. Enditem
