Some Namibian architects have called on the government to revoke the decision to exempt Zimbabwean expatriates from registering with professions council.

Namibia’s works minister Alpheus !Naruseb announced Monday that he had exempted 29 Zimbabweans from the process.

!Nasruseb said the decision to exempt the Zimbabweans was influenced by the agreement the two countries in 2012.

However, in a letter dated Aug. 10, lawyer Sisa Namandje who is representing the Namibian architects demanded that !Naruseb should revoke the exemption within the next 10 days.

Nambandje also said !Naruseb should announce that he would revoke the exemption Friday.

According to Namandje, !Naruseb’s decision was “irrational and was taken with ulterior motives.”

“The decision is unreasonable particularly given the non-exemption of Namibians who have to go through the requisite training process,” the lawyer said.

Namandje further said that !Naruseb was wrong to base the exemptions on the agreement that expired in May 2017. Enditem
