The Namibian government will relocate 42 foreigners who ran from South Africa because of xenophobia in that country, the Ministry of Home Affairs said Friday.

Speaking at a press briefing, Minister of Home Affairs Frans Kapofi said the government has given the issues these people are faced with proper consideration and the best option was to move them to them temporarily to Osire.

Osire is a refugee camp, situated central north of Namibia. The minister noted that the relocation does not guarantee refugee status in Namibia.

“We will take them there to kick start the process of verification and profiling. We have processes as a country, and we cannot just grant them refugee status,” he said. Enditem
