Namibia’s Ministry of Agriculture will host the 18th WaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium on water from Oct. 25 to 27 at the coastal town of Swakopmund.

The event will be held under the theme: Integrated Water Resources Development and Management: Innovative Technological Advances for Water Security in Eastern and Southern Africa.

The ministry’s communication officer, Jona Musheko, told Xinhua on Tuesday that around 300 delegates across Eastern, Southern Africa and Europe will be in attendance with the aim to promote interaction among policymakers, academics, practitioners from water and related sectors, and cooperating partners.

According to Musheko, emphasis will be placed on integration of knowledge, particularly involving scholars from the natural and social sciences.

Cosponsor Standard Bank Namibia in a statement said, the Symposium is integral to bring people together to identify regional issues, gaps and priorities that require further research and support in terms of issues that faced in regards with water.

The Symposium will also allow for institutions from both the public and private sector platforms to showcase their products and services.

This year, the sub-themes of the Symposium have been aligned to those of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Research Agenda under the Regional Strategic Action Plan on Integrated Water Resources Development. Enditem
