Namibian manufacturers on Friday welcomed the government’s new procurement directive that requires public entities to source specific categories of goods and services locally.

Namibian Manufacturers Association (NMA) CEO Ronnie Varkevisser said the move is a step in the right direction and will be a boost for local businesses.

“The NMA strongly support this instruction and emphasize that given the current prevailing difficult position of the manufacturing sector, all stakeholders must… implement and execute this promptly and to full effect,” Varkevisser said. Enditem
