A barrister at law who is also a guru of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Captain Nkrabeah Effah Dartey Rtd. has called for the immediate resignation of the Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB), Akrasi Sarpong and the National Security coordinator, Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey for looking on apathy for cocaine worth over $10 million to be transited abroad.

Captain Kwame Nkrabeah Effah Dartey made this call on the platform of Adom FM?s morning show when commenting on the colossal amount of cocaine parcels that were grabbed at the Heathrow Air Port in the United Kingdom (UK) from Ghana without any identifiable owner.

According to the vociferous former Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum, the two above mentioned persons must vacate their positions, if they could sit down for such dubious act to take place without their notice. ?This clearly demonstrated how porous our security agencies are. We are losing the drugs war because we rush too much,? he anxiously stated, explaining that in other jurisdictions, especially in America, ?they allow new drug barons to operate and trail them to root out the entire link but in Ghana we just apprehend them and set the major players free.?

Captain? Nkrabeah Effah Dartey Rtd. attributed the cause of the whole situation to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)? and? asked the electorates to ?flush them? out of power? in the December general elections because they have? failed to control the narcotic trade.

He advised that when someone is caught with narcotic drugs, security officials must do critical investigation into the issue in order to arrest anybody connected with the deal before carrying on with any necessary prosecution.

He also suggested that NACOB should be given full mandate to prosecute drug dealers on their own when caught saying that, that would be the best way to curtail the rate of drug dealings in the country.

Meanwhile, the drugs which were seized at the Heathrow Airport was one of the biggest cocaine seizure in three years border officials have recorded after containers arriving on a plane from Ghana were found with drugs worth ?4.3million.

However, this has led to the arrest of five NACOB officials while investigation continues to smoke out everybody who has hands in the current drug trafficking issue.

Meanwhile the NACOB Boss has accepted blames and is, according to reports, contemplating resigning his position, but Gbevlo lartey thinks otherwise.
