The Central Regional chapter of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has denied reports of a breakaway group calling itself Concerned Members of MUSIGA.

Last week, reported that some members of MUSIGA in the Central region have defected from the union accusing the musicians? body of neglecting them.

The members, who call themselves Concerned Members of MUSIGA in the region, expressed their displeasure at national executives for failing to address several challenges facing them.

The concerned members in a statement signed by their Press Secretary, Oti Faaben Kakra and copied Friday, announced their defection from MUSIGA to the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG).

Reacting to the report, Executives of MUSIGA in the region have vehemently denied the report and stated ?there is no such group known to the Union in the region.?

A statement signed by Lawrencia Entsua Boako, Central Regional Secretary, and copied said they are neither aware of any defection nor the existence of the new group.

?The Regional Executives are not aware of any meeting held under the banner of such group and none of our card bearing members whose data exist in the region and also captured in the Union?s National data base has defected from the Union in the region,? the statement said.

According to Central regional executives, MUSIGA ?has a unique membership card numbering system which is inconsistent with most of the card numbers provided for this dubious exercise by the author of the said publication.?

The statement added that, some members who were alleged to have defected including the Agona District Vice Chairman of the MUSIGA, Mr. Vincent Ofosu have denied ?vehemently their involvement.?

?We would therefore like to assure the general public that MUSIGA in the Central region is intact,? the executives stressed.
