Aftermath multiple assassination attempts on chief of Asikasu, a suburb of Asamankese in the Eastern Region, Barima Agyei Konadu Yiadom (II), information gathered by this reporter has indicated that the assasins are still after the life of the traditional ruler even though the case was still pending before the Koforidua Circuit Court B.

According to sources at the Asikasu palace, machette cum gun wielding gangs had again stormed the residence of the chief recently to take his life but unfortunately for them, he had gone into hiding.
According to Nana Konadu Yiadom, he had received numerous treacherous text messages amidst the murder attempts from these thugs who he believed were hired by one of his sub chiefs, a certain Kwadwo Ampem Darko from Accra to invade his palace.

Giving full accounts of his ordeal, Nana said he had faced several attacks from some armed macho men, since his rival, Samuel Kwadwo Ampem Darko was refused a plea to become the Abakomahene by the royal Aduana family of Asikasu.

“Somewhere last two year I was in the palace when he brought in land guards, and a sheep, and their mission was to come and destool me, then the whole youth in the township hearing the news stormed the palace to protest against the move. They grabbed the sheep from them and killed it, then we called in the police to come over, but unfortunately when they came the people had gone. Later Kwasi Darko wrote a letter to the Koforidua Police Commander that they had come to take me off the traditional stool peacefully and I had not cooperated so it was now time for them to apply force. Since then, I have come face to face with death almost every day, sometimes I walk in town disguised and these hoodlums keep threatening my life even though the case is in court”, he lamented.
However, at a hearing of the case, at the koforidua circuit court, a fortnight ago, counsel for the plaintiff and his other accomplices, pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy.

Their plea was to seek an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) , but according to the presiding Judge, her Lordship Madam Mercy Addei Kotei, the offence before the court was a second degree felony and however was not applicable to grant their plea.

She has however ordered the plaintif’s lawyers to file their defense , and for hearing on the next adjourned date; 19th January.
Stay tuned.
