Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso scored his debut Nations Cup goal for the Black Stars in their 3-0 win over Mali on Thursday.

The in-form Espanyol player scored from the spot kick in the 37th minute after Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was fouled in the penalty box.

The 22-year-old stepped up for the kick and expertly displayed goalkeeper Samassa Mamadou to set the stadium agog.

Wakaso was influential in the nervy 1-0 win over the Eagles but was replaced by Christian Atsu after he picked up an injury.

He will however miss the country?s final group game against Niger on Monday after picking his second yellow card in the tournament.
