Ghana’s leading telecommunication giant, MTN has taken another judicious step by partnering with Business solution company, One Smart Star Ghana to launch ‘Star phone Service’ in Ghana.

This One-Stop mobile application platform is a unique dial code that allows customers to contact businesses just by a single dial or tap without going through any herculean task of dialing all the 10 digit phone numbers.

‘Star phone Service’ hosts multiple numbers of organizations and also integrate all their available communication channels such as: website, emails, social media platforms, SMS, voice phone, location navigation, fax and others.

Speaking at the launching ceremony in Accra, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Amerley Ampofo, stressed that as a technology driven organization they always look for innovative services that will enhance the experience of their customers.

According to her, it is in this regard, they are partnering with likeminded organizations to help make the mission a reality.

“One of the problems we identified in the market is the issue of dealing with several phone numbers or digits when we need to reach businesses or organizations. The short codes created have mostly been designed to take SMS. Toll free numbers are usually very long and not easy to memorize.

As it is often the case, whilst on your phone to look with a caller and there is the need to request for a number, the next thing will be for you to look for a place to write or store the number.
To solve this problem and make it much easier to reach organizations, Fast Food joints and many more, MTN in partnership with One Smart Star Ghana Limited is happy to introduce onto the market, the Star Phone Service,” she explained.

According to her, with the commitment to their vision “to lead in the delivery of a bold new digital world to customers” MTN Ghana will continue to provide distinct customer experience to brighten the lives of their customers. “We continue to invest in our network and infrastructure to ensure that customers live in this digital age enjoying all the benefits available to them without restrictions.

“It is worth nothing that this year alone, MTN is investing more than $144 million to expand the network,” she hinted.

The Deputy Communications Minister, Vincent Odotei Sowah, who graced the occasion, noted that the global economy today is being driven by technology and innovation which is evolving.

It is therefore great news for Ghana that this application is being launched at this time when digitization of Ghana’s economy is key on the president’s agenda to position Ghana as a Regional ICT hub.

“Nearly half of the population of Ghana has mobile internet access. The country’s penetration is now the second highest in Africa with mobile phone penetration being well over 120%,” he disclosed.

However, he applauded Smart Ghana for coming out with such an innovative service; and also pledging the Ministry’s support to help make this mutual dream and vision a reality.

The Co-Founder & CEO of One Smart Star Mr. David Sussan, noted that the application currently operates in over eighty 80 countries World Wide. This he said, Ghana is the first country in the sub-region to embrace this service. He therefore entreated all and sundry to download the Star Phone app from the Google play Store in order to enjoy its benefits.
