Ghana’s leading telecommunications service provider, MTN Ghana has taken another judicious step by partnering with aYo Ghana Intermediaries Limited to launch an innovative product dubbed: “aYo Recharge with Care service”.

This ground-breaking product christened : “aYo Recharge with Care” was basically designed to demystify insurance, make it affordable and serve the good of Ghana by providing instant cover and rapid pay-outs on a digital platform – YOUR MOBILE PHONE.

Speaking at the launching ceremony in Accra, the Ag. Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr. Noel Ganson, noted that the advancement of telecommunications sector has become a significant enabler of countless opportunities for both human and economic growth.

This he said, since MTN committed to leading the delivery of a bold new digital world to Ghanaians, the company decided to partner a number of institutions to bring distinct experience to door steps of valued subscribers.

“Notable among such partnerships is the Agoo, a multilingual mobile platform provider in collaboration with UNICEF Ghana to engage and educate Ghanaians on topical issues including water, sanitation, hygiene, education and child protection,” he stated.

According to him, aYo Recharge with Care enables subscribers to buy a life policy cover up to a maximum of GHS3000.00 for a subscriber and one family member and a hospitalization cover of a maximum of GHS50.00 per night for subscriber only anytime they top up their airtime.

The amount of airtime to be deducted as premium is automatically set up at enrolment. The minimum and maximum premiums are set at GHS0.5 and GHS2.00 respectively. This makes it possible for more people to be insured while significantly increasing the insurance penetration of the country which is significantly lower than expected.

This he said, Insurance is now more than a form of social safety net, it is a tool to absorb risks from individuals and ensure stability while promoting economic growth.

Insurance has therefore become even more relevant in today’s fast paced world where risks are a part of our daily lives.

The Country Head of aYo Ghana Intermediaries Limited Mr. Francis Gota, noted that their mission as a company is to create a future where everyone uses insurance by making it relevant, accessible and easy to use.

“In May last year we launch our first product “Send With Care” (SwC) which runs on the MTN MoMo platform. Since that time, more than 50,000 clients with have already signed up and now have insurance cover with numbers growing more rapidly in recent months especially due to the increase in “Send With Care” (SwC) benefits.

We expect many clients to engage with aYo Recharge with Care much quicker,” he hinted.

“You can get life cover (for yourself and a family member) and a hospital benefit to your hospital admission bills. All this by paying as little as GH¢0.50 per benefit per month.

With GH¢2 deducted from your airtime, you get a hospital cover which pays a benefit amount of GH¢40 per day in case you are admitted to hospital and stay for at least one night. You can top-up your hospital cover to GH¢50 and pay from your MoMo wallet.

In addition, for GH¢2.00 paid from your airtime per month, you can get up to GH¢2,000 life cover for yourself and one family member depending on airtime purchased in the previous month. You will soon be able to buy additional cover with your mobile money to get up to GH¢3,000 for yourself and one family member.

Every premium deducted gives you a cover for 30days.
