Ghana’s leading telecommunication giant, MTN is set to commission a 40 bed capacity maternity block for Tema General Hospital on 20th July, 2018.

This ultra-modern maternity block constructed for Tema General Hospital worth is 6 million Ghana cedis.

The Gh₵6 million project which was awarded to a construction firm, Brushwell Associates Limited commenced work on 9th November, 2016.

The facility, contains a 20-bed, first stage ward, a lying-in ward, one theater, 7 bed monitoring/recovery ward, nurses’ station and changing rooms, sluice rooms, pantry and a store, two consulting rooms, two doctors’ office/restrooms, nurses’ office, nurses’ restroom, kitchen, restrooms and a reception.

The Acting Corporate Services Executive Pala Asiedu Ofori, hinted that the facility has been equipped with the needed equipment in order to make the hospital a full fledge one in the country in the sub-region.
This she said, the project will go a long way to help alleviate the pressure on existing facilities at the hospital, as a result of the increasing population.

According to her, as a company their aim is to help clamp-down on maternal and child mortality in the country. “We strongly believe this facility will go a long way to help improve the maternal health issues in the country,” she said.

Already the fight against maternal and child mortality in Ghana, has received a much needed boost from the MTN Foundation.

So far MTN Ghana the leading telecommunications service provider has impacted more than four million lives with Over USD 13 million through its Corporate Social Responsibility activities in Ghana.
