MTN the leading telecommunications company, together with the people of Ashanti region will be celebrating the third annual regional festival?activation?dubbed Ashantifest. The month-long celebration comes off from 3rd ? 27th May, 2013.

The celebration forms part of MTN?s nationwide commitment to brightening the lives of customers. It is also an opportunity to appreciate not only MTN subscribers but the entire region for their loyalty to the brand. It also enables officials of the company to get closer to its subscribers through the various activations and to showcase MTN?s support for various communities through the provision of Corporate Social Investment projects.? Ashantifest gives MTN the opportunity to make a statement that, it is a company committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates.

A series of events covering the commissioning/initiating of Corporate Social Initiatives, projects, business, sports and entertainment would be carried out in the region during the period. Some activities lined up for ?Ashantifest? 2013 include:

  • Commissioning of a three- unit classroom block and ICT Centre for Akyawkrom
  • Commissioning of a theatre and lying in ward for the Fomena Health Centre.
  • Sod cutting for the commencement of a Dormitory block to serve the accommodation needs of the Owerriman Senior High School.
  • A forum for retailers and Mobile Money merchants to discuss business and investment opportunities
  • Health Walk
  • Inter Community football gala

As has been the practice in the previous years, MTN will also support the Asantehene Gold Cup Tournament which is organized in partnership with the Royal Golf Club. The people of Kumasi will also be treated to good music during a grand musical show on 17th May 2013.

In a statement to announce ?Ashantifest? activities, the CEO of MTN, Mr. Michael Ikpoki said, ?the festival is meant to excite the people of Ashanti region and to show that we are committed to brightening the lives of our customers. At MTN, our customers come first in all that we do and this is why we created the regional festivals to bring us closer to our subscribers, with the aim of building a stronger relationship? he said.

The General Manager of the Northern Business District, James Bukari Basintale of MTN encouraged the good people of Ashanti region to participate fully in the various events planned for ?Ashantifest? 2013.

Ashantifest is one of the several regional festivals designed by MTN across the country to acknowledge and promote the rich culture of the communities in which we operate. It is held in appreciation of the continuous support of the regions to the growth of the MTN. Other regional festivals lined up include: Koftownfest (Eastern Region) Suncity Fest (Brong Ahafo Region), Oil Cityfest (Western Region) and Savannafest (3 Northern Regions).
