Ghana’s leading telecommunications giant has embarked on another benevolent exercise by donating some valuable items to Osu Traditional Council in support of the this year’s Homowo festival.

The items donated include: a cheque of GH¢ 5,000.00; MTN Airtime worth 500.00; and drink hamper.
Presenting the items, the Customer Relation Executive, of MTN Ghana, Mrs. Jemima Kotei-Walsh, noted that the company has fostered a good relationship with the Traditional area over years.

Hence, there is a need for us to support and demonstrate our commitment to promote an important part of Ghana’s rich celebration, the Homowo festival.

“In commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of His Majesty DF Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, MTN is also here to formally congratulate His Majesty for his achievements over 10 years since enstoolment.

MTN would like to salute his Majesty for promoting development, creating opportunities and projecting a positive image of the Chieftaincy institutions in Ghana”, she stated.

According to her, MTN found the theme for this year’s celebration, “Our Youth and Education the way forward,” a very important one.

Since the youth are the engine of national development. This she said, through education, the youth are being empowered to drive development in their communities. Adding that, MTN is pleased that the people of Osu are galvanizing their energies to promote education for the youth in the area.

Mrs. Jemima Kotei-Walsh noted that they also carry out data activation throughout the festive period at the vantage points to give valued customers an experiential feel of the benefits of their internet and data services which include fastest 4G LTE services.

“In addition to this donation, we will support the organizations of Soo Ntang (Home Coming) and some social activities throughout the festive period. We hope our support in these areas would help make the celebration a grad one”, she said.

She hinted that, MTN has also set aside the month of August as MTN Mobile Money Month to promote the use of Mobile Money and its numerous benefits to individuals and businesses. And also, educate members of the community and also caution them against falling victim to fraud.

His Majesty DF Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council, commended MTN Ghana for their generosity and the good work they are doing in the country. He also called on them to join people of Osu to celebrate this year’s in a grand-style.

Already the MTN has presented similar items to Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in support of this year’s Homowo festival.
