MTN App Challenge, Version 5.O has ended smoothly in Accra, as a Psychologist graduate from University of Ghana Mr. Razahk Issaka, emerged as the ultimate winner with an innovative App dubbed: “Man Must Chop.”

“Man Must Chop” created by this industrious young man won the top prize of 20,000 GHC, beating out very stern competition.

“Man Must Chop” is a digitally animated series which follows the story of “Aluta“, a character who tries to do whatever it takes to be good at something. This App is basically designed to educate, inform and also entertain the masses on various social issues.

Delivering a speech during the ceremony, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of MTN Ghana Mr. Noel Kojo – Ganson, described Apps as a powerful tool in the world today, creating connections with
individuals and communities.

Across the country and the continent, apps have been influencing lives and creating economic empowerment.

“Since the inception of MTN Apps Challenge, it has given several Ghanaian youth the opportunity to develop and take up challenges in our economy.

The success stories are many: permit me to share a few: Setriakor Nyomi our First winner with his
Oware 3D now has over a 100,000 downloads, Buzztrick, Wheelo and Amatsii, to mention
a few, are all apps that are generating income for the developers and creating convenience for many.

Today, we will add a few more to these success stories,” he stated.

This year, in line with women in ICT project, we have included the Best Female Developer Award Category. A category that has seen the submission of some intriguing projects.
“We believe that the sustenance of this category will lead to the contribution of resources to the filling of a wider human resource gap in STEM – a gap that indicates the need for extensive development of our human resources;” he added.

Farida Bedwei – Entrepreneur; CTO, Logiciel Ltd, also challenged upcoming entrepreneurs to focus on the challenges bedeviling the nation and endeavour to find solutions them.
“Once you are able to solve the problem, the money will follow. Being in a country and continent full of problems means we all have the potential to be multi-millionaires one day if we are able to understand and solve problems holistically.

Put yourselves in the shoes of your consumers, spend a day with them (if possible) and see
whether your solution is really a solution to their problem or whether it is a solution to your
interpretation of the problem,” she added.

There were other awards given out for other categories including Education, Lifestyle and Internet Of Things.
