Mr Maxwell Blagogee, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, has advised riders of motorcycles to comply with government’s policy of licensing to promote road safety.

He said the licensing would legitimise their operations as commercial riders and sanitise the sector.

Mr Blagogee who was addressing commercial motor riders at Nkwanta said government appreciated their services but needed to license them for easy monitoring.

Mr Prosper Archimeye, a middle-aged commercial motor rider, told the Ghana News Agency that the licensing would help check reckless riding and “filter out inexperienced riders”.

He said a good number of motor riders endangered the lives of other road users due to inexperience and commended government for the initiative.
