According to Mr Mongella, in Muleba District 329,589 people access clean and safe water, an equivalent to 61 per cent of the population.

In Bukoba District 170,921 residents access clean water, an equivalent of 59 per cent whereas in Bukoba Municipality 75,989 people, approximately 59 per cent access clean water.

In Biharamulo District 177,917 people access clean water roughly 55 per cent of the population, while in Ngara District 227,239 residents access clean water an estimated 71 per cent.

In Karagwe 319,992 people access clean water about 49 per cent while in Misenyi District 95,237 residents access clean water (47 per cent). Mr Mongella further said that ten villages in Karagwe District will be covered under the Water Sector Development Programme (WSDP).

These include Nyaishozi, Kibingo, Chanika, Chamchuzi, Chabuhora, Kayungu, Nyakakika, Kigorogoro, Rwabikagati and Iteera. In Biharamulo District, selected villages include Mabare, Mihongora, Kagondo, Bisibo, Nyantakara, Katoke, Kasato, Nyabusozi, Kasozibakaya and Nyakanazi.

In Ngara District selected villages include Rulenge, Ngundusi, Munjebwe, Muhweza, Murugarama, Muruvyagira, Rwinyana, Kanazi/ Kabalenzi, Mukibogoye, Mbuba, Mukubu and Kumubuga.

In Bukoba Rural selected villages include Mashule, Kyamulaire, Kitahya, Kibona, Itongo, Lukindo, Katare, Kibirizi and Bituntu. In Muleba District the villages include Kyota, Kabare, Katembe, Kangaza, Kishoju, Katoke, Iroba, Kinagi and Karutanga.

In Misenyi District, the villages include Kilimilire, Ruzinga, Kakunyu, Bwoki, Rubale, Kenyana, Kibeho, Igurugati and Rukurungo.

In Bukoba Municipal Council the villages include Kagondo, Ijuganyondo, Bunkango, Rwazi, Bushaga, Bulibata, Ihyoro, Kyamyosi, Kibeta and Kitendaguro.
