5,000 Npp Delegates To Choose Executives Of Party Today

wpid-npp.jpgAspiring Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Osei Prempeh has decried what he says is the monicracy creeping into the party?s internal politics.

He described as sad, how some party officials have openly endorsed candidates he claimed are buying positions in the NPP.

Osei Prempeh?s grief comes on the back of allegations of vote buying especially in the Ashanti region, ahead of the NPP regional elections on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

His rival, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as ?Chairman Wontumi? has been accused of using money to influence delegates.

He is said to have paid for nomination forms of some candidates vying for polling station and constituency positions. The issue became murkier when Chairman Wontumi on Thursday donated an office complex to the party.

Justifying his philanthropic actions, he said “it is God who directs me” and not because of the impending regional elections.

But Osei Prempeh on Asempa FM?s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, bemoaned the ?manipulation of the system? to favour one candidate.

?It is shameful; tolerating vote buying in the party is officially endorsing corruption of the system,? he added.

The former deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo said if “money-politics” is not nipped in the bud, to enable responsible people contest positions, ?the NPP will be a laughing stock?.

He was certain party delegates who have the NPP?s interest at heart will not allow money to influence them but would vote on their conscience.

Osei Prempeh urged the delegates to be selfless and vote for a competent, dedicated, honest and passionate person ready to work for a landslide victory in 2016.
