The Nigerian Institute of Industrial Engineers (NIIE) has expressed its willingness to partner the Ministry of Defence in the conduct of research for military undertakings.

Dr Sociis Okolie, the President of the institute, made the offer during a visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Prof. Nicholas Damachi, in Abuja on today. Okolie said that the ministry had made immense contributions to solving security challenges in the country, as well as peace keeping operations globally and solicited for cooperation between the two organisations

Okolie said, “The institute is ready and willing to collaborate with the Defence Ministry in any area of concern. “By virtue of its composition, the institute has the expertise and experience to provide leadership for the conduct of research and make inputs to virtually all undertakings of the ministry.”

He also said the institute was ready to partner the academic and other sectors to produce concepts of note and services, to leap-frog the economy.

On his part, Prof. Damachi said some elements of the “Splash Theory of Wealth Distribution and Creation??, a book he authored, would be incorporated into the National Bureau of Statistics? (NBS) survey instrument. He said that this was to facilitate the generation of required data on the multiplier factor in job creation.

The permanent secretary said the Youwin programme introduced by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was related to the splash theory. “This is true to the extent that the programme is also geared toward youth empowerment and job creation resting on three pillars of entrepreneurship, mentoring and financing,” he said.
