The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing digital inclusion by expanding telecommunication services to underserved and unserved communities nationwide.
This commitment was highlighted during the National ICT Week celebration launch on August 26.
Alexander Yaw Arphul, Chief Director of the Ministry, emphasized that digital inclusion is crucial for realizing the full potential of Ghana’s digital future.
Speaking on the theme “Driving Digital Transformation,” Arphul stated, “It is the pathway to a more equitable, prosperous, and connected society.
As policymakers, we must remain committed to ensuring that the benefits of digital technologies are shared by all, leaving no one behind.”
The week-long celebration, organized by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), aims to address digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide through various initiatives and policies.
Arphul pledged the Ministry’s commitment to making digital transformation benefits accessible to every Ghanaian.
Richard Okyere Fosu, Director General of NITA, underscored the importance of e-government in national development.
He highlighted that the initiative seeks to drive growth, create employment opportunities, and utilize ICT and public-private partnerships to improve government operations’ efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Fosu remarked, “We have an exciting program lined up for this week, reinforcing our role in digital transformation, which is essential for our nation’s development.
The celebration of ICT Week is a testament to our commitment to these goals, providing an opportunity to reflect on our progress, showcase innovations, and reaffirm our dedication to building a digital Ghana.”
