The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, has called for calm from the public as action is taken to fix the defect at the Kumasi Airport that has led to its closure.
He said he was in constant touch with the Minister of Transport, Alhaji Collins Dauda to ensure that the pothole that had developed on the runway was sealed as early as possible to allow flights to resume.

However, the Minister who was on an inspection tour of the airport Monday, gave promised that the problem would be fixed as soon as possible to enable the resumption of flights.

 

Workers expected to do the maintenance work on the runway according to officials are expected the close of work today.

 

The Kumasi airport was closed to all flights on Saturday morning after a pothole resulting from an overnight rainfall was detected on the runway. All incoming and outgoing flights have since been cancelled.
