Following the defection of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of the party in the state have declared that they would not allow and resist attempt to dissolve the party?s structure in the state.
Alhaji Fatai Adams, the State Deputy Chairman, of the party, disclosed this at a briefing with journalists in Akure, on Friday, while pacifying party?s supporters who besieged its secretariat, along Oyemekun road, to protest the defection and rumor of collapsing the party?s structure.  
The protestors had vent their anger on the party?s leaders and decried that they were not carried along on the defection of the State Governor into their party.
Speaking, Adams said the official defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, into the fold of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, was an applauded development, as the party gets set to work with him in moving the state forward.
?We are fully prepare to support the Governor and our leader, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to transform this nation to the next level and we are ready to work together for the success of the President in the coming 2015 general election?.
The State Deputy Chairman, revealed that the State working Committee (SWC) had gone to court to protect the structure of the party from been collapsed following the defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who automatically becomes the party?s leader in the state.
?We have filed a motion of injunction at the Federal Capital Territory High Court to protect the structure of the party because we are not ready to dismantled the structure of the party at this very crucial moment.
?Our primaries are less than a month to this period and a lot of aspirant have showed intention to contest for various position under this umbrella?.
He added that many members of the party had committed resources for its success and would not want to disappoint them in allowing it to be literary hijack. 
?We are fully prepared to protect the interest of all members who have labored and worked assiduously and have committed a lot of resources?.
?To ensure that the party transform from the lowest ebb to what it become the ?beautiful pride? today that a governor can choose to be the next place to move into?.
Declaring what seems to be a riot act for the incoming decampees, Adams maintained that the party is fully ready to expand its umbrella to embrace everyone but would not surrender the party?s structure. 

?We are not ready, however, to surrender the structure of our great party to anybody because we were elected and we are ready to work for the success of this party at all levels?, he further declared.
Also, speaking the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Wale Ozogoro said tampering with the party?s structure could jeopardize people?s interest mostly as elections into the State House of Assembly and Federal House draws nearer.
He hinted that over sixty aspirants jostling for various positions had shown interest and collected their form.
“Over sixty aspirants had collected an expression of interest form to contest for various political offices under the present executive of the party.
?Tampering with the party structure could jeopardize their chances. We will not allow them to suffer in vain? he said.
It is not clear, what would be the fate of the protestors as they have vowed to press on.
