Midfielder Esme Mends has revealed Hearts of Oak assistant coach Ben Adjei?s badmouth has led to his departure from the Ghanaian giants.

The 27-year-old is among 13 players transfer-listed by the 20-time Ghana Premier League title-winners as recommended by head coach David Duncan.

Mends who is regarded as one of the best midfielders on the local scene had his contract with the capital club run out at the end of the season but they refused to offer him a new deal, adding him to a list of players who have been asked to leave.

The former Real Sportive midfielder has admitted being surprised by Hearts? decision to end their marriage and reveals assistant coach Ben Adjei told team-mate Obed Ansah he is not a good player.

?In our match against RTU in Tamale he (Ben Adjei) told Obed Ansah I?m not a good player which made me feel very bad because as a coach if there is any issue about my performance you don?t discuss that with a team-mate,? he told Accra-based Happy FM.

?I told the head coach (David Duncan) about what happened and told him I?m not happy with the assistant?s utterances about me. Since then, I never played a game till the end of the season.

?I felt I was in good form and deserved to play but I never got to play again.

?I was very surprised when I heard the rumour that I was not going to get a new deal and it has really happened.?

Mends has been linked with a move to AshGold.
