Islamic StateRAMADI, Iraq — A total of 28 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed Monday in the U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and clashes with the Iraqi security forces in the province of Anbar, a provincial security source said.
At least 20 IS militants were killed and dozens others wounded when the international coalition warplanes pounded a bomb-making factory in the IS-held provincial capital city of Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.(Iraq-IS-Clash)

TUNIS — The toll in Monday’s shooting by a mentally disturbed soldier at a security barrack in the Tunisian capital rose to eight, a military spokesman said.
Seven soldiers were killed and 10 others were injured, including one in a critical condition, said Belhassan Oueslati, spokesperson of the Defense Ministry, adding that the perpetrator, who had a history of psychiatric issues, was shot dead. (Tunisia-Shooting)

SANAA — The United Nations (UN) has not declared postponement of peace talks due to be held in Geneva this week, said a senior official of Yemen’s Shiite Houthi group on Monday as it was fighting a Saudi-led Arab coalition in the north and supporters of the exiled president in the south.
The UN plans to hold a conference in Geneva on May 28 that will involve Yemen’s exiled government, political factions including the Houthi group and the Arab coalition to restore momentum toward a political transition process. ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Monday kicked off a strategic framework for its newly founded space agency that aims to launch satellite missions and the “first Arab unmanned probe” to Mars by 2021.

KABUL — Over two dozen Taliban militants and insurgents loyal to the so-called Islamic State or Daesh have been killed in the western Farah province with Farah city as its capital 695 km west of the national capital Kabul city over the past two days, a local television channel reported Monday.
“Clash between Taliban and Daesh outfits which flared up in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah province last evening have so far claimed the lives of 15 Daesh insurgents and 12 Taliban fighters,” Tolo reported in its news bulletin. (Afghanistan-Taliban-IS) Enditem
