The Attah Igala and President, Kogi Traditional Council of Chiefs, Michael Ameh-Oboni II, on Thursday decried the level of underdevelopment in Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

The Royal Father bared his mind at the palace of the recently-inaugurated Aguma of Bassa, His Royal Highness William Jimba-Keke, during a familiarisation visit to the area.

The Attah lamented that the spate of poverty and underdevelopment of the area with the consequent dearth of infrastructural amenities, was detrimental to the welfare of the people.

He called on governments at all levels, political and traditional leaders and all stakeholders to collectively wage war against the unhealthy situation.

He noted that unity was paramount in the fight to salvage the area from the doldrums of poverty and general lack.

Ameh-Oboni II called on the people to abhor unhealthy sentiments, divisions and political rivalry to evolve plausible strategies at ushering in the desired development.

Reacting, the Aguma of Bassa commended the Attah for the visit to his chiefdom.

He prayed that the reign of Ameh-Oboni II, would usher-in unprecedented peace and development into Igala/Bassa Kingdom.

Jimba-Keke congratulated the Attah on his ascension to the throne of his fathers, saying he would outlive the legacy of his father.

He pledged the unreserved loyalty and support of the people, saying that they would consolidate on the peace for which they were known.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Bassa Local Government, Malam Maigida Umar, thanked Ameh-Oboni II for the visit.
